Polson Police Grateful for Citizen Help in Emergencies

Polson Police Grateful for Citizen Help in Emergencies

By KECI staff

MISSOULA, Mont. — Emergency responders in Polson scrambled Friday to two vehicle crashes and a medical emergency, and, according to the police department, it was the kindness of local citizens that made all the difference."

The unselfish acts of kindness and good old-fashioned Montana initiative displayed by citizens of Polson was nothing short of extraordinary," Polson Police Department stated in a Saturday press release. "This comes as no surprise for those of us who live here, but for our guest be advised, Polson is the greatest community around."

The first emergency reported was a truck vs. motorcycle crash on U.S. 93. Passersby not only reported the injury crash to dispatch, but they also assisted the injured and provided traffic control."

If helping a stranger with injuries is not nerve racking enough, directing backed-up summer traffic on U.S. 93 is, and yet these folks jumped right in there until emergency crews could arrive," the press release states.

After that event a retired nurse helped officers respond to a medical emergency.

The third incident was another vehicle crash that resulted in injuries. Army veterans stopped at the scene and helped with traffic control and tended to the injured until authorities arrived.

"It is important that we take notice, genuinely thank one another, and highlight these displays of unsung heroic acts," the press release states. "When tragedy strikes your community is here. Partnerships such as these make Polson a safe and pleasant place to live, work, learn, and play."
